Cynthia Robinson, CAP-OM, President
Cynthia was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia and attended the Richmond Public Schools. She’s family oriented and loves interacting with people.
She has been employed at the County of Henrico, Virginia for 17 years and joined the IAAP in 2001.
Cynthia attended Virginia Union University majoring in Business Education. She has continued her professional development by taking job-related courses within the County and at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College. Additionally, she has attended seminars, annual meetings, conferences, and leadership workshops through the IAAP.
In 2007 she enrolled in the CPS/CAP Review Course at Virginia Tech Richmond Center and also participated in a study group to prepare for the exams.
In 2008 she received her CAP (Certified Administrative Professional) designation.
Cynthia has served on the Old Dominion Chapter, IAAP Board of Directors since 2009. She has been corresponding secretary, newsletter editor, 2010 and 2011 Administrative Professionals Week (APW) Seminar Chair, and was the 2010 Professional Member of the Year (PMOY). In addition, she was the 2010-2011 President-Elect and a 2010-2011 Member of Excellence.
Cynthia is an optimist and has a “can do” attitude. Her motto is “Never give up, it’s not an option!!!” She often communicates, “I’m inspired to continue my lifelong commitment to learning!”
Cynthia has a strong desire to do things the right way, keep her integrity, and be true to herself. She’s highly self-motivated and loves to set and achieve goals. She also has motivated and mobilized others to a common goal. For example, as chair of the Old Dominion Chapter, 2010 and 2011 Administrative Professional Week Chair, her goal was to have 100 professionals attend the seminar. She lead the committee to function as a professional unit using their expertise, innovativeness, creativeness to go beyond the norm to execute all tasks. The team was diligent, dedicated, committed along with working extended hours in researching, planning, coordinating, and facilitating the seminar. The committee surpassed their goal! More than 101 attendees from 40 companies and government agencies were represented at the event, including 5 chapters (Virginia). With the help of her team 101 gifts were given to attendees.
Cynthia is currently enrolled at Bluefield College; her major is Management and Leadership.
Cynthia’s goal is to make a difference, and stay informed, and motivate others.
Her hobby is indoor/outdoor container gardening.
