Mary Clark, First-Vice President

Mary was born in Richmond, Virginia and is a graduate of Maggie L. Walker High School. Mary has worked with the City of Richmond School Board for 36 years; holding positions in their Finance department for eight years and their Internal Audit Services department for the last 28 years.

She holds an Associate Degree in Office Systems Technology from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and a Bachelor Degree in Management from Saint Paul’s College. Mary believes education is very important and she is always trying to find opportunities to grow and be a better role model for her son.

Mary received her Professional Standards Certificate (PSP), Advanced III-Option B in 1989 from National Association of Educational Office Personnel (NAEOP) and became a Certified Educational Office Employee (CEOE) in 1990 through the National Association Education Office Personnel.

Mary is a member of the Richmond Association of Educational Office Professionals, (RAEOP), National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP), Virginia Association of Educational Office Professionals (VAEOP), and the Eastern Star Chapter (EOS) Number 79. Mary has been a dedicate member of the Old Dominion Chapter-IAAP (ODC) since October 1989.

Since joining ODC, Mary has served as President, President-Elect, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer. She has also chaired several ODC committees: Newsletter, Administrative Professional Week (APW), Audit, Program, Professional Member of the Year (PMOY), Publicity, and Ways and Means. Mary has also served on the Secretary of the Year, Budget, Seminar/Workshop, 1993 Annual Meeting, Professional Secretaries Week 40th Anniversary, Open House, Steering Committee, and Ways & Means.

Mary loves to travel with Old Dominion Chapter members; some of the national IAAP conventions she has visited representing the ODC were held in Washington DC, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, and Minneapolis. She has also attended the Southeast District Conference in South Carolina and various chapter seminars and workshops since 1990.

Some of her special accomplishments are: ODC Member of the Year 1998-1999, National Administrative Black Association Professionals Member of the Year in 1999, RAEOP Office Professional of the Year in 1993.

Mary is also a representative of Avon and has received these awards: Avon President’s Recognition Program 2006-2007and 2008-2009 as #1 in District Sales Increase, Avon President’s Recognition Program 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 as #3 in District Sales Volume, and Avon President’s Recognition Program 2008-2010 Rose Circle.

One of Mary’s goals when she retires is to open a doggy daycare. She enjoys listening to gospel music, dancing, playing with her dogs Tuffy, Buddy and Tuffy’s girlfriend Balie, traveling, and working puzzles whenever she has down time.
